Governor commends Michigan Milk on 100 years

032416Michigan-Govern-Rick-Michigan Governor Rick Snyder says dairy is one of the main drivers behind the state’s growing agricultural industry. As governor, the sector has grown to over $100 billion annual industry.  Snyder says to help grow agriculture, he has focused on research and development/ innovation, value-added processing and exports.

“The average citizen does not appreciate how you’re on the technological edge of innovation in our country, we need to tell more about that.”

Snyder say he plans to create three commissions that can make a difference long-term for Michigan. He says they would focus on infrastructure, education and the economy.  “We spent a lot of time in the past few years talking about roads, but this is where we do need to talk about water and sewer, pipelines, natural gas, all these other efforts—broadband.”

Snyder spoke to dairy farmers at the recent Michigan Milk Producers Association’s 100th Annual State Delegate meeting in Lansing, Michigan.
