Gordon Food Service to build indoor farm and training campus
Gordon Food Service has announced plans to build an urban farm campus in West Michigan as part of a new partnership with Square Roots.
Ten shipping containers at the company’s Wyoming headquarters will be used to produced more than 50,000 pounds of herbs annually available for commercial chefs and at retail locations.
The urban farming technology company Square Roots will also offer a year-long urban farming program at the site.
Construction will be complete in the fall of this year and additional farms are expected to be developed at other U.S. and Canadian distribution centers.
Gordon Food Service is the largest private food service company in North America and covers the Midwest and Eastern U.S.
