Good week for wheat, sorghum export inspections

The USDA reports wheat export inspections for the week ending July 7th were ahead of what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year. The 2015/16 marketing year for corn, soybeans, and sorghum runs through August.

Wheat came out at 375,279 tons, down 195,931 from the week ending June 30th, but up 103,388 from the week ending July 9th, 2015. A little more than a month into the 2016/17 marketing year, wheat inspections are 2,653,137 tons, compared to 1,881,812 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,357,903 tons, 163,079 higher than the previous week and 300,818 more than this time last year. At this point in the 2015/16 marketing year, corn inspections are 36,416,882 tons, compared to 37,923,448 in 2014/15.

Soybeans were pegged at 374,016 tons, 181,146 larger than the week before and 227,886 above a year ago. For the marketing year to date, soybean inspections are 44,829,858 tons, compared to 48,255,968 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 124,600 tons. That’s an increase of 42,251 tons on the week and 24,069 on the year. 2015/16 sorghum inspections are 7,696,430 tons, compared to 7,631,065 in 2014/15.
