Good week for soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending October 20th were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 244,331 tons, down 220,791 from the week ending October 13th and 71,750 lower than the week ending October 22nd, 2015. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 11,286,398 tons, compared to 8,878,436 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 541,527 tons, 334,554 less than the previous week, but 128,175 more than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 8,356,998 tons, compared to 4,765,504 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 2,739,744 tons, an increase of 230,747 on the week and 74,126 on the year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 10,454,187 tons, compared to 9,435,861 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 73,267 tons. That’s 67,421 more than the prior week, but 131,782 less than a year ago. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 539,829 tons, compared to 1,815,942 in 2015/16.
