Good week for corn export inspections

The USDA reports that as of the week ending February 23rd, corn and soybean export inspections remain ahead of what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 537,877 tons, down 32,933 from the week ending February 23rd, but up 150,290 from the week ending February 25th, 2016. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 18,926,908 tons, compared to 14,808,742 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,461,296 tons, 292,440 higher than the previous week and 721,808 more than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 25,900,816 tons, compared to 14,766,746 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 704,945 tons, 389,392 lower than the week before and 350,237 less than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 43,389,282 tons, compared to 38,605,821 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 132,234 tons. That’s a decrease of 47,943 tons on the week, but an increase of 23,554 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 3,177,228 tons, compared to 5,156,505 in 2015/16.
