Good pace continues for wheat export inspections

The USDA says wheat export inspections as of the week ending September 3rd remain ahead of the previous marketing year’s pace. The 2020/21 marketing year started June 1st for wheat and September 1st for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

Wheat came out at 695,741 tons, up 161,606 from the week ending August 27th and 282,135 higher than the week ending September 5th, 2019. The top destinations for the week were Yemen and Vietnam. Just over a quarter into the 2020/21 marketing year, wheat inspections are 7,458,381 tons, compared to 7,012,037 in 2019/20.

Corn was reported at 781,838 tons, 358,073 more than the previous week and 169,773 above this time last year. The leading destinations were Mexico and Japan. Very early in the current marketing year, corn inspections are 234,122 tons, compared to 272,010 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,295,462 tons, an increase of 486,086 from the week before and 317,548 from a year ago. The main destinations were China and the Netherlands. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 465,262 tons, compared to 573,467 last year.

Sorghum totaled 96 tons, a drop of 162,900 on the week and 34,453 on the year. The only listed destination was Mexico. 2020/21 sorghum inspections are 96 tons, compared to 33,542 in 2019/20.
