Global edible insect market is growing

The global insect market is growing and crickets are leading the way, according to a market survey by Barclays and Meticulous Research firm.

They say the growing population and declining food resources are driving that growth.

Crickets and other insects are high in protein and rich in minerals.

The survey says crickets had the largest share of the market in 2018 mostly because of increased demand for cricket-based products, easy farming and processing and their use in other health products.

North America is expected to have the fastest growth in edible insects between now and 2030.

The report expects the global edible insect market to reach nearly $8-Billion dollars by 2030.
