German farmer encouraged about 23 crop

A German farmer says his crops are in good shape as the European growing seasons gets underway.

Speaking through a translator, Arnold Loermann tells Brownfield he farms about 100 acres of barley and wheat.  He says last year’s wheat crop was average. “The last harvest had been between 7 to 8 metric tons per hectare, which equates into 150 to 160 bushels to the acre.”

He says after a dry fall, there’s been additional moisture. “Currently, the crops are looking good.  It all depends on how the spring time will be, which  means how much rain we will get.”

Loermann says his operation is small than-the 600 acre average size.  He partners with CLAAS to house their machinery at his farm to show with customers.
