GAO to investigate RFS waivers
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is going to investigate the EPA’s granting of small refinery exemptions to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
The investigation was requested by a bipartisan group of House members led by Iowa freshman Democrat Abby Finkenauer.
Finkenauer, who chairs the House Small Business subcommittee on rural development and agriculture, says the number of waivers has grown exponentially since 2016. She says it raises questions about the review process and what other factors the EPA is considering in approving the waivers.
