USDA Logo

The USDA will provide just over $48 million to fund research and extension services for the specialty crop industry.

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will be providing the funds through their Specialty Crop Research Initiative. Research in fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruit and nursery crops will be eligible for funding, as well as research that addresses challenges in distribution, processing and addressing consumer demand.

The funding will be available to federal agencies, national laboratories, colleges and universities, research institutions, private organizations or corporations or individuals.

Applications are due by 5pm EDT November 15th.

More information about the funding and application process can be found through USDA.
