Fuel retailer says ethanol industry can support an E15 national standard

A fuel retailer says the Biden administration should make E15 the national fuel standard and the ethanol industry has the capacity to deliver it.

Randy Gard is the Chief Operating Officer with Nebraska-based Bosselman Enterprises. “It just really takes some legislative law that gives guidance to EPA that says it’s ok to sell E15 year round.  It’s really that simple.”

He tells Brownfield there’s sufficient infrastructure to expand fuel sales. “Tanks, lines, dispensers, hoses, nozzles – all that already preapproved. We’re just waiting for guaranteed access to year round E15 and a way we go.”

And, Gard says, and E15 standard could be just the start. “We also have E30 and E85 buttons. Once the E15 year-round waiver gets put in place and we start converting to E15.  Then we are going to do the same exact drill on E30 when we start promoting heavily on E30.”

American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says the only way to make E15 a national standard without a court challenge is through Congress.

Brownfield interviewed Gard at the 2022 ACE Annual Conference in Omaha, NE.
