FSA says signup for new CRP pilot program begins July 6th

The Farm Service Agency will be opening enrollment for a new CRP pilot program called CLEAR30 this summer.

Minnesota state FSA director Joe Martin tells Brownfield CLEAR30 was created in the 2018 Farm Bill.

“Traditionally CRP contracts have been anywhere between 10 and 15 years (but) the new pilot program authorizes a 30-year contract.”

He says farmers and landowners with continuous contracts expiring this fall will be eligible.

“So if you receive one of those postcards, you’re one of the lucky ones that have the option to participate in this.”

Martin says CLEAR30 is targeted towards long-term conservation practices that are focused on water quality.

The signup period runs July 6th through August 21st.
