Four counties in state of emergency

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared a state of emergency for Washtenaw, Huron, and Ionia Counties, in addition to Wayne, following heavy rain events and tornadoes at the end of June in Michigan.

The order allows for emergency assistance to help with recovery efforts.  Severe weather also caused intermittent crop and farm damage in those areas.

Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan has filed at least 500 claims across the state since the storm took place, with roughly 90 percent of them related to the heavy rains.
