Forum covers strategic entry into organic and non-GMO markets

Interest in organic food is growing and industry experts will soon be gathering in St. Louis to discuss how producers and food companies can strategically enter the market.

Joy O’Shaughnessy helps organize the Organic and Non-GMO Forum coming up November sixth and seventh.

She says agriculture is at a crossroads.

“From the perspective that conventional marketers and (others) are starting to look more seriously at the big business that organic and non-GMO product is enjoying, and seeing the future growth.”

O’Shaughnessy suggests farmers and food companies are recognizing the need to step into the organic and non-GMO segment, whether they want to or not.

“Because their customers are demanding options.  We understand there are hurdles to the supply-chain issues that face the organic and non-GMO area, and we want to help these companies figure out their scale-ability and supply issues.”

She tells Brownfield the Organic and Non-GMO Forum will address logistics that impact farmer returns, the advent of gene editing technology, increasing consumer demand for plant proteins, and many other topics.
