Former AMS market reporter and analyst Ed Czerwien has died

Long-time USDA Agricultural Marketing Service reporter Ed Czerwien has died after a 3.5 year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). 

Ed’s storied career in agriculture included stops at the Fall River Feedlots in Hot Springs, South Dakota, Wilson and Company in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Hayward Cooperative in Hayward, Minnesota.  He also worked at the Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association in Ripon, Wisconsin, and the St. Joseph Stockyards in St. Joe, Missouri before heading to the USDA.  Following his retirement from the USDA, Ed started CZ Cattle Market Analytics. 

He was a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, the Amarillo Area Agricultural Committee, and the Texas Cattle Feeder Association.  His work has been recognized with numerous awards from the FFA, National Market News Association, the USDA, and Missouri’s Department of Agriculture.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
