Farmers to Food Box in action at Missouri food bank

USDA officials joined a Missouri Congresswoman at the Central and Northeast Missouri Food Bank for an update on COVID-19 relief.

Greg Ibach, Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory program, says the USDA continues to work with contractors for the Farmers to Families Food Box program as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).

So far, nearly 70 million boxes containing fresh produce, milk and dairy foods and meat have been distributed since May 15th.

Ibach says they are entering phase three of the food box program which will continue through a fourth phase when the economy rebounds.

The Central and Northeast Missouri food bank has so far distributed 1.1 Million pounds of food to families under the CFAP program.

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler says she’s proud of the efforts of the Food Bank which serves 100-thousand Missourians.
