Food and Ag Climate Alliance carbon bank recommendations

The Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA) has released recommendations for USDA when it comes to a potential carbon bank.

The alliance, made up of 70 ag groups, says USDA needs to develop pilot projects that focus on developing, improving and scaling climate-smart ag practices.

They want the ag department to encourage widespread adoption of climate-smart practices and infrastructure.

They say carbon accounting guidelines must be established.

And, the group says USDA must engage with and provide fair opportunities for minority, socially disadvantaged and small-scale producers.

The alliance is also working on more in-depth tax credit policy recommendations.

American Farm Bureau and National Farmers Union are two of the leading members of the climate alliance.
