Flooding leaves some Tennessee crops underwater

Farmers across Tennessee received some much-needed rain, while flash floods hit the western part of Middle Tennessee leaving many fields underwater.   

According to the USDA, corn is 95% in the dough stage, with 70% dented, and 76% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is 93% is setting bolls and 4% opening bolls, with 67% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are 95% blooming, 82% setting pods, with 70% rated good to excellent.  Tobacco is rated 64% good to excellent with 89% of the crop topped. 

Pasture conditions improved this week with 62% rated good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is 87% and subsoil moisture is 85% adequate to surplus.
