First case of HPAI in Lapeer County

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has detected another case of highly pathogenic avian influenza as wild birds migrate south.

A 100-bird backyard flock in Lapeer County tested positive for the virus, the first case this year in the county.  The flock has been depopulated and the premise is under quarantine to prevent the disease from spreading.
