FFA CEO discusses in-person national convention

The new CEO of the National FFA Organization is looking forward to an in-person national convention this October.

Scott Stump managed the National FFA Convention and Expo more than 20 years ago.

“Having managed that event when it was in Kansas City and Louisville and seeing it grow and blossom to more than than 60,000 attendees, I’m excited to reengage in that convention experience,” he says. “I’m excited and pleased that the city of Indianapolis has worked hard with the National FFA staff to find a way to have components be in-person this fall.”

But, he says the benefits of a virtual convention last year because of the coronavirus pandemic shouldn’t be discounted.

“While it wasn’t the experience that we would have liked to have, it reached more students,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to working with the board and staff to figure out how we can leverage what we learned to ensure we can still have in-person components but at the same time really make sure we continue to impact more of the 760,000 members that we serve.”

The National FFA Convention will take place Oct. 27-30 in Indianapolis.
