Farmers get more timely rain events

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says Mother Nature has brought some much-needed relief for crops this month.

“The weather storyline for the last two years now is going to be that a timely rain is everything,” he said.

He tells Brownfield some areas of the state may still see some yield reductions due to drought, but, “Parts of the state are going to be phenomenal in terms of yield,” Naig said. “We need to see some rain and we need to get the soil profile restored heading into next growing season.”

Naig says the southern portion of Iowa has been the driest over the last 30 days.
