Farmers describe challenges getting parts

Some Midwestern farmers are experiencing delays accessing parts.

Pat Hobbs grows corn, soybeans, and rice in southeastern Missouri.

“There are certain parts that are just not available right now and some of those parts are on farm equipment and this could get very critical if this continues.”

He tells Brownfield, “they told me the other day at John Deere that if you have a water pump go on this particular tractor, there’s one in the world that they know of.”

Greg Greving grows corn and soybeans in central Nebraska.

“We had some issues on specialized parts in the early spring,” he says. “I’ve heard of neighbors that have had issues. I have one neighbor that has a tractor down and is waiting on an $8 sensor so is now renting a tractor.”

He says the truck driver shortage has not helped the delay in parts.
