Farmers catch up on Wisconsin harvest

BrownfieldAppImageFarmers did a lot of catching up in the fields last week.  USDA reporters say there were over 5 and a half days suitable for field work, and that allowed for a lot of soybean and corn harvesting, fall tillage, and manure spreading.

Wisconsin soybeans are now 71% harvested, and nearly all corn silage is done.  Corn for grain is 38% harvested as of Sunday, and 98% of the potato crop is in.  The winter wheat crop is getting planted about a week later than last year, as 83% has been planted and 60% of that has emerged.

Pastures are rated 71% in good to excellent condition, and soil moisture is mostly adequate or surplus statewide with a few exceptions.
