Farmers await word on possible third MFP payment
One of the big question marks going into 2020 is whether the USDA will greenlight a third round of Market Facilitation Program payments.
The Department has said a decision will be made shortly. And if authorized, checks would start going out in early January.
Something that is known is that payments have risen since MFP began.
USDA’s Farm Service Agency has paid out nearly $11 billion in 2019, with Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota among the top states receiving payouts.
Total payments by Brownfield state:
Arkansas: $330 million
Illinois: nearly $1.1 billion
Indiana: $542 million
Iowa: $1.18 billion
Kentucky: $172 million
Michigan: $194 million
Minnesota: $801 million
Missouri: $472 million
Nebraska: $716 million
Ohio: $389 million
South Dakota: $400 million
Tennessee: $176 million
Wisconsin: $254 million
52 cents was deposited in my account by FSA marked 310 — same as first two tranches for 2019. Hope that wasn’t it!
That 52 cents was deposited last week….
Has a decision been made on the third payout for farmers in Iowa?
