Farmer says increased prices come at a price for some

The recent increase in commodity prices is helping some farmers but not all of them.

Mike Moreland farms in west central Missouri and says he feels for the farmers who have been flooded out and can’t plant crops this year.

“You hate that so many people can’t plant but it always helps on the other end with the prices. So, it’s always a game of give and take in this business.”

Many farmers are forced to take prevent plant acres and there’s uncertainty about the amount and timing of the USDA’s second round of market facilitation program payments.

Moreland is chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council.
