Farmer says crops are the best he’s ever seen

A central Indiana farmer says this year’s crop is the best he’s ever seen.

Mike Shuter grows corn, soybeans, and wheat in Madison County.

“I think this is probably the best crop I have ever put in the ground and this is my 45th crop,” he says.

He tells he doesn’t know if he’ll ever put a better stand in the ground and hopes to learn from this growing season.

“I’m not sure the push to try be the first one with corn in the ground pays off in the long run if we can plant at the right time and get that out of the ground and get it growing,” he says.

After recent heavy rains, Shuter says the crops need some dry conditions in the coming weeks.
