Farmer concerned about frost forecast

Southern Ohio Farmer Greg Corcoran says he’s concerned wet and cool conditions will negatively impact the corn and soybeans he’s planted.

“Especially with the forecast for this week- some concern of whether we’re going to have frost damage on our beans or whether even if it’s going to come up to the cold and wet and maybe not as warm of ground temperatures as we would want,” he says. “There’s some concern of what we have got in the ground that’s going to be effected by this cold, damp weather.”

He says if the weekend’s forecast is correct, he may have to replant some soybeans…”we’re looking at temperatures of getting down to 28 and obviously would be very detrimental to anything just coming out or in the ground,” he says. “It does bare some concern for the soybeans that we may have to be doing some replants already.”

Corcoran raises corn, soybeans, and popcorn in Ross, Pike, and Scioto counties.
