Farmer concerned about commodity prices, COVID-19 impact

Southern Ohio Farmer Greg Corcoran says he’s concerned about commodity prices as planting continues and the industry is negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We’re not able to move the crop like we would like to on the pure sense of losing money to try to sell it at this point,” he says. “it’s very bleak looking into the future and saying we could be putting crop in the ground that we’re going to lose money on,” he says.

He says it’s hard to be excited about planting knowing that they could lose money.

“That’s tough to do for any farmer looking at the markets and the way they are,” he says. “It’s not the best scenario and hopefully things can come around.”

Corcoran grows corn, soybeans, and popcorn in Ross, Pike and Scioto counties.
