Farmer calls virtual Commodity Classic a success

A southeast Illinois corn and soybean farmer says the virtual platform for the 2021 Commodity Classic and Corn Congress was a success.

Roger Sy served as a delegate from Illinois during policy discussions.

“I’m one of these older farmers, so when we started talking about all of the virtual stuff, I had my doubts. But when it came time for the classic, all we really had to do was push a couple of buttons on the screen and we were in. It worked very well.”

He tells Brownfield event attendance shows farmers are getting more comfortable with virtual platforms.

“There were roughly 6,000 people in attendance and 4,000 of those were farmers. That is impressive that we were able to get that many people that involved with virtual. So, people are coming around and getting comfortable with making that happen.”

This was the 25th anniversary of the event. The 2022 Commodity Classic is scheduled for March 10-12, 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
