Farm Bureau says farmworker bill falls short

While more than 300 ag groups support a farmworker bill in the U.S. House, the nation’s largest farm group does not.

American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall says the Farm Workforce Modernization Act passed by the House Judiciary Committee falls short of a long-term solution to farm labor shortages.

He says the policy is not good enough in its current form to ensure farmers a stable workforce.

Farm Bureau wants wages to be more market-based and competitive for growers, more reforms to the H-2A program, as well as visa caps and mandatory E- verify language revisited.
