Farm Bureau joins nationwide effort supporting COVID-19 vaccines

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall pledged member support of vaccine efforts during the launch of the COIVD-19 Community Corps with Vice President Kamala Harris and requested food and ag workers remain essential during distribution.

“It is important to Farm Bureau that our farmers and our employees have priority access to the vaccine given the important role that we play on the frontlines of our food supply,” he says.

He says their organization is working to address barriers that exist to get people vaccinated and other concerns.

“We are leading by example,” he says.  “I was grateful to get my first dose recently.”

Duvall also highlighted work of state farm bureau presidents and member leaders encouraging vaccinations.

“We want to promote the benefits of the vaccine and we are going to work together to fight this pandemic so that we can protect our communities and to protect our food security,” he says.  “Madame Vice President, we are committed to be a partner with you.”

Vice President Harris took a moment to thank farmers for their dedication throughout the pandemic at the COVID-19 Community Corps virtual kickoff at the beginning of the month.

“Our American farmers have been stepping up in extraordinary ways,” she says.

Farm Bureau is a founding member of the campaign along with more than 20 other ag and rural groups as well as hundreds of other organizations.
