Farm Bureau asking that ag workers be next to receive COVID-19 vaccine

American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall wrote a letter to the Biden administration Wednesday asking to prioritize vaccine access for food and ag workers.

The letter showed support for putting first responders, medical professionals, elderly, and vulnerable individuals first, but Duvall says as new vaccines are approved and distributed, employees across the food and agriculture supply chain should be next in line.

Just as the administration directed states to prioritize vaccines for teachers, AFBF is requesting similar action be taken for agriculture workers, as critical positions among the workforce remain unfilled which leaves current employees stretched thin and threatens additional farm and processing shutdowns.

Duvall says this is a necessary step to avoid further disruptions and shortages in the food supply chain.
