Farm Bill priorities for Iowa Corn

The Iowa Corn Growers Association has developed several policy priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill.

District 6 Director Logan Lyon tells Brownfield Iowa corn farmers believe Congress should maintain premium offsets for harvest price coverage in crop insurance.

“It seems like we’re all rowing in the same direction as far as crop insurance is concerned,” he said, “to keep those subsidies in place and make sure that’s one of the top line items.”

He says the association is calling for an increase in funding for the Market Access Program and Foreign Market Development Program. “Making sure those trade opportunities with foreign folks are available so that we have an end use for our product both domestically and internationally.”

Iowa Corn is also urging Congress to simplify conservation programs.
