Export inspections mostly down on year
The USDA says corn, sorghum, soybean, and wheat export inspections continue to trail the previous marketing year’s pace. The 2021/22 marketing year started June 1st for wheat and September 1st for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.
Wheat came out at 435,173 tons, down 180,040 from the week ending September 30th and 79,500 from the week ending October 8th, 2020. The top destinations were Japan and Colombia. At this point in 2021/22, wheat inspections are 9,184,962 tons, compared to 10,448,122 in 2020/21.
Corn was reported at 746,200 tons, 123,885 lower than the previous week and 100,396 below a year ago. The main destinations were Mexico and Colombia. Just over a month into the marketing year, corn inspections are 2,943,222 tons, compared to 4,576,158 this time last year.
Soybeans were pegged at 1,611,731 tons, 767,121 more than the prior week, but 857,674 less than last year. The leading destinations were China and Taiwan. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 3,443,355 tons, compared to 9,557,619 a year ago.
Sorghum totaled 11,398 tons, a decrease of 66,353 on the week, but an increase of 11,206 on the year. The listed destinations were Chad and Mexico. 2021/22 sorghum inspections are 240,957 tons, compared to 396,622 in 2020/21.
