Ethanol production down on week, year
U.S. ethanol production dipped last week, continuing to show the impact of COVID-19 on blending demand.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 974,000 barrels a day, down 16,000 on the week due at least in part to Thanksgiving and 86,000 below a year ago because of those demand uncertainties.
The Renewable Fuels Association says net blender inputs were the lowest since mid-June and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market also declined.
Stocks of 21.240 million barrels was the largest domestic inventory since mid-June, up 374,000 from the previous week and 601,000 barrels from this time last year.
The RFA says ethanol imports into the West Coast averaged 9,000 barrels a day.
The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out on the 10th.
