Ethanol exports up sharply on month

U.S. ethanol exports shot higher in January.

The Renewable Fuels Association says the total of 117.8 million gallons was up 59% from December and the highest in 8 months with Canada taking the top slot for the 22nd month in a row. That was followed by the United Kingdom, which took in its largest volume in more than a decade, along with South Korea, the European Union, and India.

Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles fell 13% to 770,344 tons, with shipments to top customer Mexico at a nine-month low and South Korea down 10%, while imports by the European Union were a four-month high, with most of that on the way to Ireland. DDGS exports to China hit a 12-month high.

There were no U.S. ethanol imports reported.
