Ethanol, DDGS exports up sharply on month

U.S. ethanol exports made a big jump from February to March.

The Renewable Fuels Association says ethanol exports during March were a ten-month high at 132.3 million gallons, an increase of 27% from February. Canada has now claimed the top spot for two consecutive years, with March’s ethanol exports to Canada the largest volume to any country for any month on record. The other major monthly destinations were India, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Peru.

Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles were 898,086 tons, 17% higher than the previous month, mainly to Mexico, South Korea, and Turkey.

For the year to date, ethanol exports are 354.1 million gallons, 10% slower than 2022 and the smallest first quarter since 2016, with DDGS exports at 2.43 million tons, 16% behind a year for the slowest first quarter since 2019.
