Ernst says Senate vote is coming on WOTUS resolution

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst says she expects the Senate to vote this week on a resolution that would disapprove of the Biden administration’s new Waters of the United States rule.

“We are hoping to do this likely (Wednesday) or (Thursday),” she said, “but once we have the word to move ahead on that, we do anticipate that this resolution will pass through the Senate in a bipartisan manner. We also expect it to pass through the House.”

But the Iowa Republican tells Brownfield if the resolution is passed, “Then it goes to the President. It’s his rule, so he would likely veto it, which would be a huge disappointment.”

Ernst says the new rule lacks a clear definition for Waters of the U.S. and causes regulatory uncertainty for farmers.
