EPA’s Regan talks RFS, but does not mention RVO extension

New EPA Administrator Michael Regan says his agency is hard at work trying to get the Renewable Fuel Standard back on track.

“More transparency, more certainty in the decisions that we make. And looking at fuel volumes and things like that.”

During Wednesday’s Agri-Pulse Ag and Food Policy Summit, Regan says EPA is considering next generation emission standards that apply to passenger cars and trucks.

“(Electric vehicles) are very important, but we’re going to need a suite. A suite of options for our transportation agenda, and biofuels, especially advanced biofuels, are part of that agenda.”

Regan did not address the EPA announcement this week to extend the compliance deadline for refiners to meet their 2020 Renewable Volume Obligations.

In a statement, Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor expressed disappointment, saying refineries have had ample time to blend more biofuels and comply with the RFS.
