EPA withdraws interim decision on glyphosate, registration expected in 2026

The American Farm Bureau Federation says EPA’s withdrawal of its interim registration for glyphosate is a win for farmers.

Travis Cushman, Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Public Policy with AFBF, tells Brownfield Friday’s decision provides clarity and certainty for the ingredient used in Roundup. “Fortunately, there is not impact.  Glyphosate is still registered and we’re just going to back the previous registration.”

In June, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals required the agency to review the registration by October 1 after environmental groups filed a lawsuit against EPA.

Cushman says it’s likely the agency didn’t have adequate time to review the registration by the deadline.

EPA says it will complete its registration review in 2026.
