EPA to unveil E15 proposal early next year

The EPA says it plans to release a proposed E15 rule by next February. The agency’s fall agenda includes finalizing the new guidelines by May, which would allow for sales of E15 next summer.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle continue to praise President Trump’s directive on E15.  U.S. Senator Tina Smith, a Democrat from Minnesota, tells Brownfield expanding E15 year-round is very important to farmers.

“I’m happy that the President has moved forward with something that I’ve been urging him to do for awhile, which is to make sure we could sell E15 all year-round.  That will definitely help corn growers who are looking for opportunities to expand markets.”

The EPA also proposed reforms to the market for renewable identification numbers in response to refiner concerns about RFS compliance costs.
