EPA continues to evaluate dicamba, but farmers can use it in 2022

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency says farmers will have access to dicamba-related products in 2022.  But, Administrator Michael Regan says the agency is still analyzing new incident data about its use.

“EPA is extremely concerned about these reports and is taking steps to better understand the nature and the severity of these incidents in order to assess the efficiency of the mitigations in the 2020 decisions,” he says.  “And if necessary, take regulatory action.”

He says they’re continuing to work with industry stakeholders to learn more about those reported issues.

“We’re encouraging others with relevant information to continue to provide it to the agency,” he says.  “So we can make the best decisions possible.  Those that are informed by science.  But those that also will allow for us to uphold the law and our statutory requirements as related.”

Regan made his remarks during the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s annual meeting.
