The president of the Ohio AgriBusiness Association says it’s important for young people who want to become agri-business leaders to interact with workers in all capacities of the industry.

Chris Henney, President of the Association says meeting and working with people from other areas of the ag industry will show them how their work impacts agriculture as a whole.

“So they may be an agronomy sales manager but they’re going to see there are some trickle down effects to the work that they’re doing in their business and ultimately how the grain markets can be impacted,  or livestock feed manufacturing, the livestock industry. They’re going to see agriculture in a much greater way,” says Henney.

Henney says as young managers in the ag industry move into new positions, knowing how their work impacts other sectors of the ag industry is crucial to developing strategic goals and business plans.

“They all have different perspectives about the same industry and they can learn something from each other” says Henney.

The Association will be hold leadership training early next year. The deadline to apply for the program, Leaders Achieving Unexpected New Career Heights (or, LAUNCH) is November 14th.
