Elsie farmer reports great crops

After a prolonged dryness, a farmer in central Michigan says crops are filling out.

Dave Williams tells Brownfield there’s been just enough rain in August for his corn and soybeans.

“Things actually look much better than I expected,” he says.  “In June and July, we didn’t get much if any rain.”

Williams says new variety this year is also proving beneficial.

“We went to E-3 beans this year and those have been phenomenal,” he says.  “They really look good and the weed control is probably the best I’ve ever had.”

For now, the Elise farmer says tar spot hasn’t popped up yet, but he did put on some preventative fungicides because the conditions are ripe.
