Easter snow pushes back fieldwork in southern Minnesota

Field conditions across southern Minnesota were shaping up nicely going into the holiday weekend.

Lincoln County corn and soybean grower Bob Worth says once the ground warmed up a little more, he was ready to start planting.

“And then Easter came, and we had three to four inches of snow. Then the last few days, it snowed off and on, and hard!”

With warmer weather forecast this weekend, he tells Brownfield hopefully they can be in the field by Tuesday.

“We’re optimistic that we’ll be starting then, and oh we need to get started to keep our mind off of all the other stuff going on. We need to get in the field and put a crop in.”

Worth only planted about 10 percent of his corn acres last year because of wet weather.  He says if he’s able to get most of his corn in before May first, it would be huge.
