Earth Day awareness for ethanol

The CEO of Growth Energy wants consumers to know ethanol is an Earth-friendly biofuel.

Emily Skor says anyone who wants to be eco-conscious should use gasoline blended with corn-based ethanol.

“It reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 43 percent.  And as we continue with our innovation and advancements with technology, that percentage continues to increase over time.”

With Earth Day approaching, she tells Brownfield this is a great time to clear up some common misconceptions about ethanol.

“And I use myself as an example.  I’m relatively new to Growth Energy, and prior to coming here, I’m also a mom, I didn’t think much about ethanol and I didn’t think my decisions at the pump made a difference.”

Skor says she believes telling millennials that ethanol cuts greenhouse gas emissions in half is something they will respond to.

“And if you tell a mom that the use of ethanol in gasoline reduces the amount of toxic additives that we would otherwise use, offering cleaner air for your children to breath, well that is something that they respond to.  And that’s going to change their behavior at the pump.”

Growth Energy is using social media to communicate the environmental benefits of ethanol, and recently launched a new website.

Skor says the content is provided in a user-friendly and engaging way.
