Duvall says R&D can’t be ignored in 2023 Farm Bill

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says research and development funding needs more attention in the 2023 Farm Bill.

“To discover those new technologies that we need at our fingertips to continue on those climate-smart farming practices,” Duvall said.

Speaking to Brownfield during the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City last week, he says nutrition programs will also be a critical part of the legislation.

“To give people a hand up that are in difficult times,” Duvall said. “And to give farmers the risk management tools they need to get the next crop in case something disastrous happens on their farm.”

Duvall says the organization’s list of priorities are set to be voted on by a group of delegates at the annual American Farm Bureau Federation Convention in Puerto Rico in January.
