Drought a continued issue in Nebraska

Nebraska remains locked in drought.

The USDA says soil moisture levels did improve a little over the past month, but nearly the entirety of Nebraska remains at least abnormally dry with just over 40% of the state in extreme to exceptional drought.

Parts of Nebraska have seen blizzard conditions this winter, but that has not been able to make up for the soil moisture deficits that have plagued the state.

19% of Nebraska’s winter wheat crop is rated good to excellent, 3% lower than a month ago, with 40% called poor to very poor, unchanged from the end of January.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
