DOA, Milk Board want milk buying limits lifted

Missouri’s Agriculture Director and executive secretary of the state Milk Board are asking grocery retailers to remove limits to the amount of milk customers can buy.

In their letter to Missouri grocery retailers, Chris Chinn and Gene Wiseman say milk processors have successfully diverted the milk supply from schools and restaurants to grocery stores to meet the demands that caused milk demand to surge at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak. In an effort to protect customers, some grocery retailers limited the amount each consumer could buy.

Chinn and Wiseman says lifting the limit now will greatly help Missouri’s dairy industry which contributes $2 Billion to the states’ GDP, supporting family farmers and more than 23,000 jobs.
