Dicamba deadline driving momentum for Enlist E3 platform

A Midwest agronomist says earlier dicamba application deadlines have more growers considering changes to their soybean systems.

Dave Hallberg with NK Seeds tells Brownfield the new June 12th deadline in Illinois, Iowa and Indiana is the driving force behind some last-minute changes.

“That has a lot of farmers and retailers concerned whether they can get that application done in a timely fashion. It has created some momentum toward the Enlist E3 platform because it gives the producer a little bit longer window to work with.”

He says growers should talk with their seed supplier to evaluate their options. “If you do make the switch, make sure that you can get the herbicide to apply on that field and then put a good residual down ahead of that.”

He says some companies are either sold out or limited on Enlist E3 supplies, but Hallberg says NK Seeds does still have a “decent supply of top varieties” if growers are interested in making the switch.
